용주골을 아십니까
우리의 아픈 근현대사를 그대로 보여주는 곳입니다. 냉전(冷戰)이라는 미명(美名)하에, 한반도(韓半島)에서 1950.6.25. 한민족(韓民族)끼리 이념전쟁을 벌이며 국토를 황폐화(荒廢化)시키고, 동족상잔(同族相殘), 말그대로 내 이웃을 괴물삼아 살해(殺奚)했던 그때. 미국(米國)은 한반도(韓半島)에 군대(軍隊)를 주둔(駐屯)하였고, 그 이후부터 한국정부(韓國政府)는 미군 근처에 사창가(私娼街)를 암묵적(暗黙的)으로 인정(認定)하고, 성노동(性勞動)으로 여성(女性)들이 벌어들이는 돈을 축척(縮尺)하여, 대한민국(大韓民國)을 일으켜 세웠습니다. 

우리 여성들 몸에 자행된 국가 폭력(暴力)
우리 여성들 몸에 자행(恣行)된, 국가(國家)의 폭력(暴力)은 다음과 같습니다.
1. 외국 군인들의 성욕(性慾)을 풀어주면서, 우리 여성들을 대한민국(大韓民國)을 지키는 도구(道具)로 착취(搾取)하였습니다.
2. 우리 여성들의 성노동(性勞動)을 대한민국(大韓民國)의 외화(外貨)벌이 수단(手段)으로 착취(搾取)하였습니다.
3. 우리 여성들이 외국 군인들로 인한 매독(梅毒), 임질(淋疾) 등의 수많은 성병(性病)으로 신음(呻吟)하고 아파할 때, 여러분은 대한민국(大韓民國) 외화(外貨)를 벌어들이는 산업(産業)의 일꾼들이라며, 기지촌정화운동를 통해 우리 여성들 몸을 통제(統制)하였습니다.
4. 우리 여성들을 그렇게 착취(搾取)하고 나서는, 양갈보·양공주라고 경멸(輕蔑)하고, 우리 여성들의 존재(存在)를 은폐(隱蔽)하였습니다.

우리 여성들 몸에 자행(恣行)된, 파주시장 김경일의 폭력(暴力)은 다음과 같습니다.
1. 우리 여성들이 여전히 용주골에 살아가고 있음에도 불구하고, 파주시장 김경일은 이제 그곳은 너희들의 땅이 아니니 몰아내려합니다.
2. 우리 여성들을 성 범죄자(犯罪者)들로 매도(罵倒)하여, 사람들로부터 조리돌림을 당하게 하였습니다.
3. CCTV를 달아 우리 여성들의 일상(日常)을 훔쳐보고 감시(監視)하였습니다.
4. 조롱거리로 만들어 동물원의 갇힌 동물(動物)처럼, 우리 여성들의 아픔을 전시(展示)하였습니다. 

 

성매매, 범죄(犯罪)일까
국가(國家)는 언제는 외화(外貨)를 벌어들이는 일꾼이라고 내세우다 이제는 성 범죄자(犯罪者)라고 손가락질합니다. 여성(女性)을 착취(搾取)해놓고는, 이제와서 너희들의 노동(勞動)은 더럽다고 경멸(輕蔑)합니다. 우리 여성들이 성노동(性勞動)으로 번 그 돈으로 나라를 재건(再建)하고, 공장(工場)을 만들고, 학교(學校)를 세우며, 남자(男子)와 아이들을 키웠으면서, 이제는 너희들의 노동(勞動)은 범죄(犯罪)였으니, 이제는 합법(合法)이라는 이름으로 우리 여성들을 범죄자(犯罪者)로 취급(取扱)하며, 몰아내려고 하고있습니다. 

 

성매매, 섹슈얼리티 교환의 재현(再現)
남성(男性)들은, 이미 오래전부터 여러 방식(方式)으로 여성의 섹슈얼리티를 소비(消費)하고 있습니다. 결혼제도(結婚制度), 여성연예인들의 몸과 외모(外貌), 여성들의 감정(感情)노동(콜센타의 대다수 여성들), 여성들의 돌봄노동(아동 및 노인 돌봄노동)등, 여러 가지 방식으로 여성들의 섹슈얼리티를 착취(搾取)해오고 있습니다. 성매매(性買賣), 호모사피엔스인 인류(人類)가 문명(文明)을 창조한 이래로, 단 한번도 사라져 본적 없는 여성의 섹슈얼리티의 교환(交換)아니던가요?

이 정든 곳을 정리(整理)하고 싶습니다.

민주당은 당장 파주시장 김경일을 징계위원회(懲戒委員會)에 회부(回附)하여 징계(懲誡)하십시오.
민주당은 당장 성노동(性勞動) 여성(女性)들에게 사죄(謝罪)하십시오.
민주당은 당장 용주골의 CCTV를 철거(撤去)하고 감시자들을 떠나게 하십시오.

Do you know Yongjugol?
It is a place that vividly illustrates our painful recent history. During the Cold War, under the guise of ideological conflict, our nation engaged in a civil war on the Korean Peninsula starting June 25, 1950, leaving the land desolate and leading to inter-Korean strife where neighbors were pitted against each other, resulting in unimaginable atrocities. The United States stationed its military forces on the peninsula, and thereafter, the Korean government tacitly acknowledged red-light districts near U.S. military bases, accumulating wealth from the sex industry to build the Republic of Korea. “Sex in Alliances,” Catherine H.S. State Violence Perpetrated Against Our Women

 

The state’s violence perpetrated against our women includes:

    1.    Exploiting our women as tools to protect the Republic of Korea while satisfying the sexual desires of foreign soldiers.
    2.    Exploiting our women’s sexual labor as a means to earn foreign currency for the Republic of Korea.
    3.    Controlling our women’s bodies through the prostitution industry, disregarding their suffering from numerous sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis and gonorrhea, and labeling them as mere contributors to the Republic of Korea’s foreign exchange through the Movement to Clean Up Bases and Camps, p.97, “3. ROK-US Security Relations and Civil-Military Relations: Movement to Clean Up Bases and Camps.”
    4.    Disparaging and concealing the existence of our women by exploiting and then stigmatizing them as prostitutes.

 

Mayor Kim Kyung-il’s Violence Perpetrated Against Our Women
Mayor Kim Kyung-il’s violence perpetrated against our women includes:

    1.    Despite our women still living in Yongjugol, Mayor Kim Kyung-il is now attempting to forcibly evict them, claiming that the area no longer belongs to them.
    2.    Vilifying our women as sexual criminals, subjecting them to public ridicule.
    3.    Installing CCTV cameras to spy on and monitor our women’s daily lives.
    4.    Ridiculing and exhibiting our women’s pain as if they were caged animals in a zoo.

 

Is Prostitution a Crime?
The state, once glorifying itself as the earner of foreign currency, now points fingers, branding our women as sexual criminals. They exploited our women, and now they disdain their labor. While our women used their sexual labor to rebuild the country, establish factories and schools, and raise men and children, they now classify their labor as criminal and seek to evict them under the guise of legality.

 

Reenactment of Prostitution and Sexual Exchange
Men have long been consuming women’s sexuality in various ways, including through the institution of marriage, the bodies and appearances of female entertainers, the emotional labor of call center women, and the caregiving labor of women for children and the elderly. Has prostitution, the exchange of women’s sexuality, ever disappeared since the dawn of civilization?

In the midst of changing times,

We want the opportunity to organize this cherished place
in the way we want, when we want.
Please do not ignore our voices.

The Democratic Party Must Discipline Kim Kyung-il
The Democratic Party must immediately refer Mayor Kim Kyung-il to the disciplinary committee and take disciplinary action.
The Democratic Party must apologize to the women engaged in sexual labor immediately.
The Democratic Party must remove CCTV cameras in Yongjugol and withdraw the monitors immediately.

 

All political parties in the Republic of Korea, listen up.
Listen to the voices of the women in Yongjugol.
Enable the women in Yongjugol to organize their place in the way they want, when they want.
Please do not exploit and ignore our women any longer.
